Clear Scale•CSP - Controlled Solubility Phosphate Scale Control

DESCRIPTION

Scale•CSP, controlled solubility phosphate, prevents calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, barium sulfate and strontium sulfate scales from precipitating out of solution. The Scale•CSP products are a family of three formulations of fused sodium-calcium phosphate glass, each with a guaranteed minimum P205 content of 68%. They are clear, water-soluble, odorless, nonhygroscopic solids resembling crushed glass. Scale•CSP does not irritate the skin and contains no ingredients harmful to refinery processes.

Chemistry

Scale•CSP possesses unusual threshold properties which effectively stabilize conditions of supersaturation. This phenomenon results when the dissolved Scale•CSP is absorbed on the nuclei from which crystallization of scale would normally proceed. The result is an inactivation of the nuclei which prevents precipitation of the scaling products.

Applications

For Producing Wells: A bed of Scale•CSP can be packed in the well bore. Dosage is sized to inhibit scale formation from 1 to 2 years of well production. This treatment is especially effective in supply wells using submersible or turbine pumps, and is economical in areas of labor shortage and when production is automated.

Surface Treatment: Any standard vertical upflow tank-type feeder can be used to feed Scale•CSP to produced fluids. Install the feeder on a bypass across any main flow line with a pressure differential greater than five psi. Ten percent of the total flow should divert through the feeder to solubilize the Scale•CSP. This method will protect salt water disposal systems, supply wells, gathering lines, FWKOs, heater treaters and other surface equipment from scale deposits.
