DESCRIPTION

Airfoam HD is an all-purpose, air-drilling surfactant that foams in fresh water, brine and the presence of oil. It is also used to unload water from gas wells to increase gas production. Treating rates will vary depending on: (1) Water Characteristics , (2) Bottom hole pressure and gas flow rate, (3) tubing depth and size, and (4) hydrocarbon amounts. Airfoam HD is the most oil-tolerant, air drilling surfactant in the airfoam family. Oil tolerant means Airfoam HD will foam water in the presence of oil. It does not foam oil; however, it can work in the presence of 5-25% oil cut water, depending upon the type and characteristics of the oil. Airfoam HD does not require any hazardous shipping labels.

CHEMISTRY

Foamers are often referred to as soap; however, the more appropriate name is surfactant, which is a shortened term meaning surface active agent. Surfactants work at the interfaces between air and water to lower the surface tension. By lowering the surface tension, the surfactant holds air bubbles in a ring of water, therefore lightening the water's weight, and enabling the pressures to effectively move the column of brine. It takes a special type of surfactant to work in both brine, and in the presence of hydrocarbons. While most foamers can generally be described as an alcohol-ether-sulfate, Airfoam HD is a blend of different, complex, alcohol-ethersulfates, and as such is highly biodegradable.

RECOMMENDED DOSAGES

Airfoam HD should be added to the water in the liquid injector tank downstream of the compressors and booster. Dosage rates are best determined from field tests. An optimum concentration for a specific field or oil concentration should be the goal.

FIRST AID

Skin & Eyes - in case of contact, flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If irritation develops, call a physician.
