WHAT IS A Surfactant or FOAMING AGENT?

A foaming agent is used as a drilling fluid and is added initially to prepare foam. It has a consistency similar to shaving foam, but must be able to withstand high temperatures, high salinity, entrained oils, hard water and other solids. Drilling foam is nothing more than water containing bubbles of gas or air, but the foaming agents themselves contain polymeric substances and are normally nonionic surfactants (surface active agents).

APPLICATION

Aqua-Clear, Inc. offers a complete line of foaming agents, liquid sticks, solid sticks, water soluble tubes, and solvents for treating oil and gas wells. Our soaps are developed to produce maximum foam under a wide range of conditions. All Aqua-Clear soaps are non-polluting, non-toxic and non-flammable. They are all biodegradable. All Aqua-Clear oil and gas drilling products are available at all oil field supply stores.

FOAMING AGENT PRODUCTS

• AIRFOAM AP-50: use in fresh water and mild salt water. Produces heavy foam, but will not work in oil.
• AIRFOAM 511: used in fresh water drilling.
• AIRFOAM B: use to foam heavy salt water; will also foam well in fresh water.
• AIRFOAM 311: economical multi-purpose foamer; a lower cost salt water alternative.
• AIRFOAM HD: use to foam salt water and oil. Use only when oil is encountered.
• OIL STICK MIX: Highly concentrated all-purpose production foamer. Use for fresh water, salt water and oil applications.
